A public Quaker Meeting for Worship is held in the tranquil setting of Claridge House every Sunday morning at 9:45. It is open to all - people from the local area as well as residents participating in a course or staying for a restful break or retreat.
Claridge House Meeting is one of eight local meetings within West Weald Area Meeting, which is part of Britain Yearly Meeting. There is a small group of regular members and attenders but each week they will be joined by some of the current residents so the Meeting is a bit different to the usual Quaker Meeting where the membership does not normally change much from week to week.
Claridge House Meeting also differs from the Area’s other Local Meetings in that it has no property to maintain, and does not even have to make arrangements for refreshments after Meeting, as both the accommodation and refreshments are provided by Claridge House. Those who attend regularly are very appreciative of this rare opportunity to worship in a Quaker Meeting completely free of the usual need to be involved in practical arrangements.
